Job description

Reporting to the Mine Supervisor, you will be part of the Underground Mine Operations Department. You will be responsible for installing ground support in underground mining operations, to ensure the safety and stability of the mine. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment. 

  • Operate underground bolting equipment to install rock bolts, mesh, and other ground support systems to stabilize tunnels; 

  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on bolting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations; 

  • Perform bolting duties according to mine plans and engineering specifications; 

  • Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies to maintain a safe work environment;  

  • Collaborate with the underground team to ensure that all bolting activities are completed on schedule and within operational standards; 

  • Maintain accurate records of bolting activities, equipment usage, and maintenance logs; 

  • Monitor ground conditions and report any concerns to supervisors or engineers; 

  • Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings and report to supervision; 

  • Assess all excavations and install ground support in development or reconditioned areas as per plan and section as the development progresses; 

  • Install or fix existing mine services such as vent tubing and pipes using various lifting equipment such as scissor trucks chain blocks and hand tools; 

  • Install ground support following approved method of installation; 

  • Drill holes using hand-held pneumatic drills (jackleg and Stoper); 

  • Prepare the face and load the round for the mining cycle. 

  • Minimum of 4000 hours operating bolting equipment in an underground mining environment; 

  • Knowledge of ground support systems and their role in ensuring tunnel stability; 

  • Ability to read and interpret mine plans and bolting specifications; 

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards; 

  • Good physical condition, with the ability to work in confined underground spaces; 

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; 

  • Basic UG Hard Rock Common Core; 

  • Ability to work in a safe and productive manner and to safely direct the activities of less skilled employees; 

  • Working knowledge and skills in Development Mining; 

  • Shotcrete/concrete/construction experience would be considered an asset; 

  • Experience operating scooptrams, scissorlifts, and other underground equipment; 

  • Ability to lift and physically handle material up to 50lbs; 

  • Experienced in installation of ground support.
