General Purpose

Provides geotechnical and civil engineering, construction and surveying support by reviewing and developing plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments associated with the planning, design, permitting, construction, operation, and maintenance of the company's generation, transmission, distribution, telecommunication, or other facilities/systems.

This position is available at multiple levels.  Applicants will be considered for the level that best matches their education and experience. 

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, modify, and evaluate systems, process, or facilities to support Company objectives. 
  • Develop electrical engineering studies, plans, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, and performance assessments. 
  • Determine methods and techniques for obtaining results.
  • Guide and direct associate level engineers, technicians and drafters.
  • Recommend alternative solutions to management in area of specialty on engineering solutions to meet business needs.
  • Deliver on commitments and manage outside engineering services to accomplish the assigned work.
  • Analyze and design engineering methods.
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Provide construction and engineering quality assurance support for projects within the company.
Requirements

Requirements for the Engineer II requirements include: 

  • A minimum of two or more years of  civil and geotechnical engineering or related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Understanding of geotechnical engineering practices and methods
  • Understanding in quality assurance and quality control process and inspections. Provide progress reports to management and other stakeholders in accordance with an approved communication plan.
  • Coordinate with procurement to solicit external services as required for project deliverables.
  • Manage bid process, contracts, for geotechnical, civil inspection and surveying services.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors regarding work scope changes and ensure that all contract commitments are completed on time per scope of work and specifications.
  • Understanding of Company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices. 
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes (if required for the position).
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
  • Ability to provide timely assessments with limited information and/or assumptions.

In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer requirements include: 

  • A minimum of five or more years' experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related professional experience.
  • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments. 

In addition to the above, the Senior Engineer II requirements include: 

  • A minimum of 6 years experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in a specialty area of civil engineering.
  • Utilize project management and leadership skills to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver commitments.
  • Demonstrate professional oral and written communication and collaboration skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and make recommendations.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers, plotters, printers, and other general office equipment

In addition to the above, the Principal Engineer requirements include:  

  • A minimum of 10 years industry experience as a practicing engineer, including experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.
  • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
  • Highest level of communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Expert knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty. Understanding of the Company's business and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws regulations and electrical codes.
Preferences
  • Master's degree in civil engineering or related engineering discipline;
  • Seven years' professional engineering experience.
  • Understanding of company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Experience in electrical utility design and/or construction support.
