Role Overview
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting manufacturing quality, driving continuous improvement initiatives, investigating quality issues, and supporting the Quality Management System (QMS). This position partners closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Suppliers, and Customers to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and improve product and process performance.
This role is ideal for an early-career engineer or quality professional who enjoys problem solving, collaborating across departments, and working in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will receive mentorship and development opportunities while gaining exposure to manufacturing operations, customer quality, supplier quality, process improvement, and quality systems.
Key responsibilities
  • Investigate customer complaints, product returns, and field quality concerns; conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review and disposition nonconforming materials and products, including rework, reuse, deviation, and scrap decisions in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Analyze quality and process performance data to identify trends, reduce risk, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Lead and support structured problem-solving efforts using tools such as Root Cause Analysis, 5 Why, 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, Pareto Analysis, and other quality methodologies.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams to resolve daily quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support Quality Management System (QMS) activities including CAPAs, document control, process updates, quality records, and compliance initiatives.
  • Participate in customer, supplier, and third-party audits, inspections, and quality reviews as required.
  • Support qualification and validation activities for new products, processes, equipment, and customer requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on quality requirements, inspection methods, process controls, and product specifications.
  • Support strategic quality initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or another related STEM discipline; or equivalent relevant manufacturing, quality, engineering, or technical experience.
  • Strong relevant technical, manufacturing, quality, or engineering experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (High School Diploma or GED required).
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, quality, operations, continuous improvement, project-based work, or a related technical environment. Recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, gather data, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and quality-related issues simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with quality improvement methodologies, including Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Familiarity with quality tools and structured problem-solving methodologies, including: Root Cause Analysis, Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), 5 Why's, 8D, Fishbone Diagrams, Process Capability Analysis
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including document control, CAPA management, audit support, and process documentation.
  • Experience with customer complaint investigations, product nonconformance management, or corrective action implementation.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems such as SAP, HFA, or similar systems.
  • Experience in wire and cable manufacturing, metallurgy, welding processes, metals manufacturing, or related industrial manufacturing environments.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), ASQ Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), or other relevant quality certifications.
