Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

This role will work in the New Product Development (NPD) team and will be responsible for design, development, and implementation of residential and commercial HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance and reliability targets across multiple platforms and product families, as well as manufacturing support for existing products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Provide measurable contribution to NPD projects and sustaining initiatives.
  • Manage individual projects throughout the complete product development cycle.
  • Design, optimize and qualify HVAC systems employing advanced analytical methods and experimental techniques.
  • Lead product qualification and agency compliance test programs.
  • Conduct analytical studies employing state-of-the-art simulation tools.
  • Ensure design quality, supporting your calculations and design proposals.
  • Support manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, and supply chain functions.
  • Interface with vendors, customers, and field personnel.
  • Conduct presentations for technical and business personnel.
  • Document product designs by preparing bills of material, drawings, and product change notifications.
  • Interface with regulatory agencies and test agencies.

Model parts and create assemblies utilizing Creo and Windchill PLM Software

Maintain quality service by following organization standards.

Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure new products are optimized for manufacturability, installation and field service.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education:

Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering. Preferred emphasis on HVAC system design or thermal sciences.

Experience:

Mid-Level: 5 years [SH1]of Mechanical engineering design & project experience preferred.

HVAC Industry experience preferred

Computer Skills:

Working familiarity with various CAD and 2d drawing programs

Experience with start-of-the-art simulation tools.

Familiarity with computer programming languages.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite products.

Certificates & Licenses:

Lean or Six Sigma certificates and training preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge of HVAC system design and applications; familiarity with the systems component design, integration, and interactions.
  • Familiarity with the New Product Development (NPD) process, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and heat exchanger design.
  • Hands-on skills and experience in working with laboratory equipment, test stands and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and agency compliance.
  • Knowledge of air management & aeroacoustics and structural analysis.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods used in HVAC&R field; industrial experience is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with system controls, sequence of operations and electrical wiring methods.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition, advanced experimental techniques, instrumentation, calibration, measurement systems, uncertainty analysis and DoE concepts
