What You Will Contribute:

At Badger Meter, we're committed to enabling smart water management solutions that support communities around the world. As a Manufacturing Engineer II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and continuous improvement of our water metering technology.

In this role, you'll combine hands-on engineering with data-driven problem solving-supporting production, improving test systems, and contributing to new product development as a subject matter expert in accuracy testing.

What You'll Do
  • Support manufacturing operations

    • Troubleshoot production challenges and implement timely, effective solutions
    • Partner with production teams to resolve product and process issues
  • Own and improve accuracy testing

    • Operate, troubleshoot, and enhance accuracy test stands
    • Design and execute product validation and verification testing
  • Drive continuous improvement

    • Lead value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) and cost reduction initiatives
    • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability
  • Strengthen product quality and process control

    • Utilize statistical tools (SPC, DOE, Gage R&R) to inform decision-making
    • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and procedures
  • Support engineering and capital projects

    • Initiate and implement engineering change requests
    • Develop business cases and support capital equipment investments
  • Collaborate across teams

    • Serve as a key partner to R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams
    • Contribute to new product development as the accuracy testing expert
  • Ensure operational excellence

    • Support ISO audits and compliance activities
    • Identify improvement opportunities and drive them through to implementation
What You Bring
  • Education & Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field)
    • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical Skills

    • Experience with statistical analysis (SPC, DOE, Gage R&R) using tools like Minitab or Excel
    • Exposure to automation, controls, or manufacturing systems
    • Familiarity with data systems (e.g., SQL or basic programming) is a plus
  • Continuous Improvement Mindset

    • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred
    • Proven ability to identify problems, analyze root cause, and implement solutions
  • Additional Strengths (Preferred)

    • Metrology experience
    • Experience with automated test or manufacturing systems
    • Spanish language skills
