Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Meteorology Software QA based in Netherlands.

This part-time remote role is ideal for a meteorology student or passionate weather enthusiast who wants to combine domain expertise with software quality assurance. You will help validate an interactive weather visualization platform that provides users with real-time weather insights. Your knowledge of radar, forecasting models, storm tracking, and weather data will be essential to identifying inaccuracies and usability issues. You will perform hands-on manual testing across web browsers and devices and participate in live testing during significant weather events. The role offers meaningful exposure to software development while allowing you to contribute directly to the reliability of weather-focused technology. You'll work in a flexible, globally distributed environment where curiosity, attention to detail, and independent thinking are highly valued.

Accountabilities
  • Perform manual and exploratory testing of an interactive, web-based weather visualization platform.
  • Verify that weather-focused features, including radar displays, map layers, storm patterns, and other data visualizations, operate correctly and accurately represent available weather information.
  • Participate in live testing activities during tornado outbreaks and other significant weather events when required.
  • Identify, investigate, document, and clearly communicate bugs, discrepancies, and anomalies.
  • Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues, validate fixes, and support improvements to application quality and usability.
  • Evaluate the platform from an end-user perspective and suggest enhancements based on weather knowledge and observed user behavior.
  • Test the application across different browsers, devices, and web environments to identify compatibility or functionality issues.
Requirements
  • Current student in meteorology, climatology, environmental sciences, or another weather-related discipline, or a self-taught weather enthusiast with strong practical knowledge of meteorology.
  • Deep understanding of weather concepts, including radar maps, forecasting models, storm tracking, and weather data interpretation.
  • Regular user of different weather applications, visualization tools, or weather data sources.
  • Strong curiosity, observation skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to identify inconsistencies and unexpected behavior.
  • Strong English communication and documentation skills, particularly the ability to describe software bugs and technical observations clearly.
  • Comfortable navigating web applications and testing across multiple browsers and devices.
  • Familiarity with QA concepts such as exploratory testing and regression testing is an advantage.
  • Experience with bug-tracking or task-management tools is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of weather data feeds, APIs, or how external data is integrated into applications is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage assigned testing activities reliably.
Benefits
  • Fully remote position with an hourly compensation structure.
  • Starting hourly rate negotiable based on skills and experience.
  • Flexible working hours and the ability to choose a schedule and time zone that suit your availability.
  • Freedom to work remotely from your preferred location, provided you have a stable internet connection.
  • Opportunity to contribute to a dynamic, real-time weather visualization platform.
  • Paid training and access to professional development opportunities.
  • Exposure to modern technologies and collaboration with an experienced, globally distributed team.
  • Consistent access to engaging and challenging work.
  • Annual pay increases based on strong performance.
  • Inclusive, equal-opportunity working environment that values diversity and professional growth.
