Essential Functions:
Inspects, investigates, and monitors businesses and citizens to enforce compliance with air pollution and environmental laws and regulations
Grants extensions and exemptions, issues warnings and citations to citizens and businesses; and serves warrants and summons regarding violations

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION

Grants extensions and exemptions, issues warnings and citations to citizens and businesses; and serves warrants and summons regarding violations of air pollution and environmental standards and regulations
Prepares correspondence and reports of inspections and investigations and maintains records and files
Collects samples, compiles evidence, and testifies in court and at pre-trial conferences
Provides information to the public concerning the procedures to follow to gain compliance with air pollution regulations and standards
ASBESTOS ABATEMENT
Inspects and investigates asbestos demolition and renovation sites for violations and to enforce compliance with air pollution and environmental laws and regulations
Issues permits, and monitors and audits asbestos contractors for compliance requirements
COMMUNITY COMPLIANCE
Investigates community complaints regarding air pollution
Observes emissions in ambient air, from open burning, area and stationary sources, small businesses and equipment to assure compliance with laws, regulations and ordinances
Investigates sources of excessive visible pollutants and other sources of suspect air pollution and environmental violations
Monitors and audits businesses for compliance with regulations and standards
Investigates open burning

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
