KOAM News Now is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and knowledgeable meteorologist to join our weather team. Situated in one of the country's most active weather markets, this role offers a unique opportunity to expand a trusted and dominant weather brand. We're looking for a weather enthusiast who combines deep meteorological expertise with exceptional storytelling skills to deliver weather stories that truly resonate with and protect our community.

About the Company

KOAM is the local news, weather, and sports leader in the 4-States area (Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri). KOAM is owned by Morgan Murphy Media, family-owned and operated since its founding in 1890. Morgan Murphy Media operates television and radio stations, a print magazine, websites, mobile and streaming apps, and a digital marketing agency, across its 11 locations. Key Responsibilities:

1. Deliver accurate and compelling weather forecasts with an emphasis on impactful and inconvenient weather conditions.

2. Create innovative, engaging weather content that adds value and captures attention across all digital, streaming and broadcast platforms.

3. Translate complex meteorological data into clear, accessible explanations, highlighting the "why" and relevance behind your forecasts.

4. Actively contribute to the KOAM+ streaming app, KOAM website and social media channels, fostering strong audience interaction and feedback loops.

5. Provide urgent weather updates and critical information both from the studio and on location during severe weather events.

6. Partner with Master Control/Programming/Operations to troubleshoot and prevent missed/incorrect airs.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in meteorology

2. Confident and engaging on-air presence with a conversational and relatable delivery style.

3. Proficiency with WSI weather systems is preferred but not required.

4. Experience preferred, particularly with forecasting severe weather systems.
