Job description

The Maker Mobile Mentor position assists RAFT STEAM facilitators in delivering hands-on STEAM activities, events, and programming to students that encourage creativity, ingenuity, and experimentation. Mentors are partnered with one of our experienced RAFT Education Team members to work with students in grades K-8 throughout the South Bay region. To be considered for this opportunity you must be currently enrolled as an active student at an accredited college or university.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Help with Maker Mobile activities and materials preparations as appropriate.
  • Support the facilitation of Maker Mobile activities for K-8 grade students under the supervision of RAFT Education Team staff.
  • Help set up and take down school sites and community Maker Mobile activities as appropriate.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Comfort with working with elementary-aged students.
  • Conversant in basic science, physics, and engineering concepts related to elementary school students.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods when working with students.


Education and/or Experience:

  • Enrolled as a student in a local university or college.


Computer/Technical Skills:

Basic technical skills, including proficient use of Google applications and word processing.
