Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator with strong hands-on experience working with heavy metal and structural steel. The successful candidate will be responsible for fabricating, fitting, welding, and assembling heavy metal components according to drawings, measurements, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication plans.
  • Measure, mark, cut, drill, fit, and fabricate heavy metal components.
  • Work with structural steel, plate, angle iron, channel, beams, and other heavy-gauge materials.
  • Perform MIG and/or stick welding on heavy metal components.
  • Operate fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, plasma/oxy-fuel cutting equipment, and other shop machinery.
  • Set up and position materials using clamps, fixtures, hoists, and lifting equipment.
  • Perform grinding, finishing, and preparation of fabricated components.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper dimensions, fit, alignment, and quality.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Metal Fabricator, preferably in a heavy fabrication environment.
  • Strong experience working with heavy-gauge steel and structural metal.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong knowledge of measurements, layouts, and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience with MIG, Stick, or Flux-Core welding is an asset.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery.
  • Comfortable working with heavy materials and performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
