Job description

Responsible for Laboratory services to support both Drilling fluids and Solids control business units.


Runs consistent QC checks on drilling fluid on a weekly basis.

Runs periodic QC checks on chemical inventory.

Formulates and tests fluid changes in lab prior to rolling out into field.

Keeps up with lab equipment and makes sure everything is in working order.

Maintains inventory of lab equipment.

Maintains inventory of DF testing  chemicals.

QA/QC of lab/field equipment and sends off for repair/replacement if necessary.

QA/QC of both new and incumbent chemicals.

Performs regularly scheduled Particle size Distribution analysis on field OBM.

Keeps up with regular maintenance on PSD Analyzer.

Education and/or Experience                                                  

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and minimum 3yrs years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability                                                          

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Computer Skills                                                             

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. An individual should also have general computer knowledge.

Valid driver's license, forklift certification, confined space entry training, drilling fluid technology training.
