Responsibilities:

  1. Deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of PC/server operating systems, related utilities and hardware.
  2. Responsible for trouble shooting server problems as reported by users. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products. Supports Web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment.
  3. Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation & Configuration

  1. Install and configure IBM MQ software on various platforms (Windows, Linux, Unix, AIX)
  2. Set up queue managers, queues, channels, and listeners
  3. Configure clustering and high availability solutions
  4. Implement security protocols and SSL/TLS configurations
  5. Set up multi-instance queue managers for failover capabilities

 

2. Administration & Maintenance

  1. Monitor queue depths, channel status, and system performance
  2. Manage message flow and resolve message build-ups
  3. Perform regular health checks and system audits
  4. Apply patches, updates, and version upgrades
  5. Maintain message retention policies and archiving strategies
  6. Configure dead letter queues and error handling

3. Security Management

  1. Implement authentication and authorization controls
  2. Configure Channel Authentication Records (CHLAUTH)
  3. Manage user access and permissions
  4. Set up SSL/TLS certificates for secure communications
  5. Ensure compliance with security policies and standards
  6. Conduct regular security audits

7. Documentation & Reporting

  1. Create and maintain technical documentation
  2. Document standard operating procedures
  3. Generate performance and availability reports

8. Collaboration

  1. Work with development teams on integration requirements
  2. Coordinate with network teams for connectivity issues
  3. Participate in architecture and design discussions
