STATUS: Exempt

MISSION STATEMENT:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, plus a minimum of five years of experience in administration of $500,000 plus social service programs serving the poor and homeless and/ or similar education and experience.
  • An excellent understanding of the problems and needs of the poor and homeless, the government and other programs available to assist them, how to overcome barriers to finding a stable home, and how to determine those who would benefit most from programs.
  • An understanding and working knowledge or Workforce Programs
  • Extensive knowledge of the target population
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds & circumstances
  • Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients
  • Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
  • Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive client data
  • Computer literate in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, and TSA software

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the oversight of the fulfillment of the overall mission of The Salvation Army in the management of all programs in Mesquite
  • Coordinate, monitor and evaluate all Salvation Army Social Service programs in the City of Mesquite.
  • Ensure grant compliance and timely necessary statistical reporting, particularly for the workforce Connections Programs.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of billing required for contract compliance
  • Ensure compliance with The Salvation Army National Social Service Standards.
  • Recruit, train, resource and supervise all staff.
  • Working knowledge of the State of Nevada statutes and codes that have an impact upon the development and operations of our services to poor and homeless families
  • Experience with grievance resolution strategies for employees and/ or program consumers
  • Work with the Mesquite Advisory Board and serve as TSA’s liaison with the board.
  • Attend all Advisory Board Meetings.
  • Submit program budgets to the Las Vegas Metro Command for approval and provide ongoing monitoring of approved budgets to assure that income and expenses remain as budgeted.
  • Act as liaison with outside agencies to disseminate information regarding the services that are provided by The Salvation Army
  • Responsible for promoting program growth and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the preparation of an annual plan of service which will include a philosophy of care, goals, objectives and timelines and identifies how resources are allocated to achieve them.
  • Responsible for the preparation of a manual that documents the essential operational policies and procedures for effective service delivery and submits for approval to the Metro Command.
  • Develop formal and informal collaborative relationships to improve the quality and quantity of services available to program participants.
  • Ensure that all programs serve others without discrimination in keeping with The Salvation Army National Policy Statement on Non-Discrimination in Programs and Delivery of Services
  • Assists in providing written set of policies and procedures for emergencies in which staff are trained
  • Ensure program staff regularly solicit feedback on services and delivery from program participants
  • Responsible to see that staff understand and effectively follow the written procedures for data collection, monitoring, reporting, and storage
  • Develop and implement risk avoidance protocols and ensure they are followed
  • Assist in grant applications as necessary
  • Adhere to all Salvation Army policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned as they relate to the position of Mesquite Service Center Coordinator.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
