Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Manager 1 to join our team based out of our Baltimore, MD location.
The Quality Manager 1 will be providing direction to employees utilizing management guidelines and general policies. They will drive employee efficiency, meeting product cost, and schedule targets, managing the area to produce quality products, and engaging employees to achieve their highest potential. The Manager is expected to work independently across organizations; manage the use of consumables to achieve budget targets; assign and manage Operator and/or Test technicians if needed to maximize efficiency and achieve target productive yields; implement our process improvements to improve affordability, quality, and schedule; and perform required SAP/MES transactions to manage Operator and or Test Technicians, if needed.
This position will be located 100% onsite at our BWI campus outside of Baltimore, Maryland and will be supporting the Flex Cell.
What You'll Get to Do:
  • Managing approximately 15 - 20 represented (union) employees.
  • Responsible for driving the team to achieve monthly delivery objectives per programs with the cell.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement or lean projects in own area or across areas.
  • Manager requires higher level understanding and has the ability to effectively give direction when related to Assessment and closure, IBASE, and inventory issues.
  • Executing major programs phases of production that requires additional ability to interface with engineering and program.
  • Supporting ISO, LEAN, and Quality initiatives.
  • Ability to document and standardize task and efforts.
  • Managing represented employees and interacting with Labor Relations.
  • Working to company policy, business conduct and standards.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audit quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and analytical skills.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of quality and/or manufacturing experience OR; a Master's Degree with 3 years of quality and/or manufacturing experience
  • Experienced people leader with strong leadership skills and the ability to lead teams
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
  • US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in management or leadership of people and/or processes in a Manufacturing or Production environment
  • Experience in Aircraft manufacturing or maintenance
  • Strong manufacturing/production background
  • BS in business, engineering, or other STEM area
  • Experienced with dispositioning hardware for quality related issues in a manufacturing facility
  • Experienced with Material Review Board (MRB) process
  • Experienced with electrical or mechanical design requirements and specifications
  • Experienced in Quality and Mission Excellence applications
  • Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma
  • Experienced in Data Analytics and Statistical Analysis methods and techniques
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Minitab, Tableau or equivalent tools for statistical analysis
  • Experienced with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques
  • Experienced with Quality Notifications, Production Orders and Purchase Orders
  • Experienced working knowledge of inspection tools, methods and techniques used for hardware reviews, validation and inspections
  • Working experience of SAP, ISE and CADSTAR
  • Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI)

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,000.00 - $157,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
