Job description

Automotive / Diesel Technician
  • Install and remove parts / components pertaining to medium and heavy duty trucks and trailers
  • Performs mechanical and electronic testing on components and systems, often for heavy vehicles, following specific protocols.
  • Key responsibilities include setting up and operating test equipment, documenting and analyzing data, performing basic maintenance on equipment, and collaborating with engineers to troubleshoot issues. 
  • Operate basic lab equipment such as parts washer, power washer, truck hoist, trailer jack, in-ground scales
  • Work safely in compliance with Meritor safety guidelines.
  • Maintain orderly work area in accordance with Meritor standards.

Job Requirements
  • Associate Degree preferred, High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Automotive / Truck / Trailer mechanical experience is required
Skills
  • Proficient with personal computers, Microsoft Excel/Word.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Understanding of measurement techniques (torque wrenches, dial indicators).
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers.
Other
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and participate in off-shift rotations.
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • To possess or willing to obtain a CDL.
  • To possess or willing to obtain necessary hand tools to perform the at hand tasks (Standard and Metric sockets and wrenches up to 1”/24MM, rachets, pliers, prybars, allen wrenches, screw drivers, etc.).
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and push/pull 150 lbs.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Pass basic physical examination and drug screen.
