What is a merchandiser flex?

A Merchandiser Flex is a retail professional who is responsible for setting up, stocking, and maintaining product displays in stores, but with a flexible schedule rather than fixed hours. They often travel to different store locations to ensure products are displayed according to company standards and promotional guidelines. The 'flex' designation means they may be called upon to work varying hours or fill in at different locations as needed. This role is important for ensuring shelves are well-stocked, products are attractively presented, and inventory is rotated appropriately. Merchandiser Flex positions are common in grocery, big-box, and specialty retail environments.

What does a merchandiser flex do?

As a Merchandiser Flex, your weekly schedule can vary depending on the needs of the stores you service and the volume of work assigned. Flex merchandisers often work in multiple retail locations, setting up product displays, restocking shelves, and ensuring promotional materials are correctly placed. The 'flex' aspect means shifts can include early mornings, evenings, or weekends, and you may have some say in your preferred hours. Communication with store managers and sales teams is key, as you’ll coordinate to ensure merchandising standards are met while adapting to changing store requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a merchandiser flex?
