We're looking for a Merchandise Controllerto play a key role in ensuring high-quality, well-timed merchandise flows smoothly into our Distribution Center. In this role, you'll influence product value and seasonality while supporting efficient, streamlined production across the DC. You'll also gain strong cross-functional exposure by serving as a trusted liaison between Distribution Services and the Home Office Merchandising and Planning & Allocation teams. What You'll Do:

  • Ensure damaged, problem merchandise and RTVs are identified and processed in line with established guidelines.

  • Inspect merchandise for all legal labeling requirements, including CSA standards, bilingual labeling, fabric content, and country of origin.

  • Review logos, graphics, hangtags, and overall product presentation to confirm store readiness and brand alignment.

  • Identify merchandise discrepancies (e.g., items not originally ordered) and partner with Planning to assign accurate descriptions and retail pricing.

  • Communicate effectively with Merchandise Assistants, Buying, Planning, and DC Management using phone, email, and digital imaging to support efficient processing and production flow.

  • Analyze and resolve complex merchandise issues (e.g., missing purchase orders, pre-ticketed orders, samples) using Mainframe and SCAN systems.

  • Ensure merchandise delivers strong customer value across fashion, quality, price, and brand; challenge retail pricing to meet company standards of 20-60% off "comparable at" pricing.

  • Partner with Planning to follow established procedures that improve processing efficiency and operational flow.

  • Proactively identify, address, and document vendor compliance issues in the SCAN compliance log.

  • Execute merchant direction by pulling samples for advertising and in-store promotions, while supporting cross-functional initiatives and building strong, collaborative relationships across teams.

About You:

  • High school diploma (OSSD Grade 12) or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Business Administration or Fashion Merchandising is an asset.

  • Two or more years of experience in retail merchandising and/or distribution, with working knowledge of brand, fashion, quality, and pricing.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills, paired with a customer-focused approach to identifying both stated and unstated needs.

  • Analytical and solutions-oriented, applying a solid understanding of DC operations, merchandise, and systems to make sound decisions.

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams and partners.

  • Intermediate computer proficiency, including word processing, email, and mainframe systems such as IMSP and SCAN; able to build productive working relationships with Distribution Services, management, associates, and external contacts.
