What will you do?

A day in the life of a Global Merchandiser, Men's Apparel at The North Face looks a little like this:

  • You own a portion of the Men's Apparel product line and are accountable for the successful execution of your assigned category from concept through go-to-market.
  • You lead cross-functional product pods, partnering closely with Design and Development teams to drive key product decisions throughout the creation process.
  • You build compelling product briefs that translate consumer insights, marketplace opportunities, and business needs into innovative product solutions.
  • You are accountable for achieving margin targets across assigned projects while balancing consumer needs, innovation, and commercial success.
  • You drive global assortment plans for your category and partner with regional merchandising teams to ensure alignment with financial and marketplace objectives.
  • You shape global segmentation strategies across consumer, category, channel, and tier, creating meaningful product distinction that supports sustainable growth.
  • You serve as a category expert, presenting product strategies, assortments, and seasonal recommendations to key stakeholders throughout the go-to-market process.
  • You analyze market trends, consumer behavior, competitive landscapes, and business performance to identify opportunities and inform assortment decisions.
  • You collaborate globally across Merchandising, Design, Development, Sourcing, Planning, Sales, and Marketing teams to deliver best-in-class products and consumer experiences.
  • You mentor Associate Merchants, sharing best practices, systems expertise, and merchandising insights that contribute to team growth and capability building.
What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundational skills you'll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your merchandising experience, business acumen, and track record of delivering successful product strategies.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • 3-5 years of experience in merchandising, product management, or a related product creation function, preferably within the apparel industry.
  • Strong understanding of apparel product creation processes, including merchandising, design, development, sourcing, and go-to-market execution.
  • Experience managing product lines, assortments, and line plans with an understanding of financial targets and margin management.
  • Strong consumer, marketplace, and trend analysis skills with the ability to translate insights into actionable product strategies.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and lead across global, cross-functional teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance brand, consumer, and commercial priorities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High degree of agility, adaptability, and comfort navigating change.
  • Growth mindset with a passion for product, innovation, and continuous improvement.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred:

  • Experience in performance and outdoor apparel.
  • Global merchandising experience across multiple regions and channels.
  • Experience working within a matrixed, global organization.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities and proficiency with merchandising and planning tools.
  • Passion for outdoor exploration and a strong understanding of the outdoor industry and consumer.

Hiring Range:

$73,440.00 USD - $91,800.00 USD annually

Incentive Potential: This position is eligible for additional compensation awards that may include an annual incentive plan, sales incentive, orcommissionpotential.
