Job description

Merchandise Delivery Driver

Drives commercial trucks with air brakes and hydraulic lift to deliver merchandise to businesses. Responsible for unloading orders from trucks, collecting payments, issuing return credits, and completing paperwork. Provides high level member service.

Job Duties:

  • Collects Driver Route Sheet, truck assignment, driver manifests, member invoices, audit notes, resale cards, phone, and driver tablet.
  • Using a hand-held tablet, conducts a safety inspection of the delivery truck.
  • Visually inspect pallets in trucks to ensure the correct number loaded, and that any frozen and cooler items are included. Applies pallet straps when necessary.
  • Drives to complete up to 25 delivery stops per day. Reviews invoice to locate merchandise to be delivered.
  • Cuts shrink-wrap from pallet and removes merchandise from truck with manual or electric pallet jack or by loading on hand truck or dolly and lowering on hydraulic lift. Verifies all items and quantities delivered with members.
  • Checks any substitutions made with members for approval. Obtains appropriate signatures and payments from members.
  • Provides prompt and courteous member service. Calls to arrange delivery of any missing items. Loads any damaged or refused items in the truck to return to the warehouse. Issues return receipts.
  • Drives delivery truck back to warehouse after all deliveries are made. Arranges for any returned items to be checked in by a manager. Turns in paperwork, payments, phone, and tablet.
  • Ensures proper cleanup and disposal of hazardous materials Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery. Assists with department duties as necessary. Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary.
