Job description

Under the Gift Shop Manager's overall supervision, the Merchandise Associate is tasked with delivering a complete shopping experience at the Gift Shop located on the Tampa General Hospital campus. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Essential Functions:

  • Arrange and stock merchandise on shelves as well as maintaining a clean environment.
  • Enter items in inventory, place tags, and keep inventory updated.
  • Update product displays and ensure popular and on-sale products are visible to customers.
  • Inventory management by efficiently managing stock levels, keep the selling space well stocked, and ensure products are easy to find.
  • Engage with customers, address questions, and provide personalized shopping suggestions based on customer feedback.
  • Ensures accurate pricing and conducts audits for consistency.
  • Manage stock, prevent shortages, and aid in loss prevention.
  • Maintain daily gift shop operations while greeting and welcoming each customer.
  • Deliver orders to patients while following infection prevention protocols.
  • Accurately handle cash register operations, including department orders.
  • Assist in developing short term and long term goals to meet key performance indicators or strategic plans.
  • Perform other duties as called for to ensure the overall efficiency of the store and position.
  • High School diploma and/or GED.
  • At least one year of experience in the retail industry.
  • Experience in retail business fundamentals including: sales trends, inventory management, and process efficiency and improvement.
