Seasonal Retail

Pay Rate: $15.92

Reports to: Retail Sales Manager

Direct Reports: None

POSITION SUMMARY

Upholds the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of the company. The primary responsibilities of the Retail Sales 1 Associate positions are to

maintain outstanding customer service, generate sales throughout the store, effectively merchandise products, process sales quickly, accurately,

and efficiently handle cash register operations and assist in retail stocking, resets, labeling, etc.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure each customer receives outstanding customer service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
  • Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers
  • Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
  • Execute the daily operational, day-to-day goals and priorities assigned by store management
  • Assist in the training and development of peers
  • Uphold merchandising and store cleanliness standards
  • Participate in the processing of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back stock area clean and organized
  • Be conscious of shoplifting activity
  • Aid customers in locating merchandise in the store, on acehardware.com, as well as processing special orders
  • Correctly organize and stock products from the weekly Ace truck
  • Answer customers' questions and provide information on procedures and policies
  • Execute inventory management protocol as established by the Store Manager
  • Adhere to all store safety policies
  • Greet customers as they enter the store
  • Answer phone calls
  • Tactfully and pleasantly assist customers
  • Solicit customers to open an Ace Rewards card
  • Verify documents and receive product

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess product knowledge of hardware-related products along with a willingness to learn
  • Establishing relationships and working with customers
  • Experience in a retail environment, either in marketing, sales, or back-office
  • Skills/Knowledge: Knowledge of retail computer systems and electronic cash registers
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time
  • Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store

Must work weekends and Ace events

Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

  • Frequently stock, load, and unload customer orders lifting to 40lbs
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time
  • Climbing step stools and ladders up to 10'

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

The minimum training requirements for this position in the first 90 days include:

  • Ace Learning Place beginning courses
  • Epicor Training POS basics courses
  • Propane certification (if applicable)
  • Forklift certification (if applicable)
  • Service Center training
  • Helpful Ready
