Job Description
Job Title: CVOR RN
Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Cardiovascular Operating Room
Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: Day
Hours per Shift: 10 hours (06:15 - 16:45)
Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience required, trauma or major OR experience preferred
License: Active Illinois license required
Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred
Must-Have:
- Required Work Setting Experience: CVOR, General OR.
- Required Cardiovascular Skills/Experience: Aortic Aneurysm repair, Atrial Septal defect repair, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, ECMO, and others.
- Required Vascular Skills/Experience: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Arteriovenous fistula repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, and others.
- Required Thoracic Skills/Experience: Thoracotomy, Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, and others.
- Required Endoscopic Procedure Skills/Experience: Bronchoscopy, EGD, Peg tube placement.
- Required Professional Knowledge and Skills: Laser Safety, Specimen Handling, and Universal Protocol.
- Teaching Hospital Experience & Level II Trauma Experience required.
Description:
The position is for a CVOR RN.
The role involves a daily average census of 10.
There are 4 operating rooms in the unit.
Call is required 1-2 nights a week and every 5th weekend.
Candidates must float within their scope to meet facility needs.
First-time travelers are accepted.
Candidates must have the required skills and experience across various cardiovascular and vascular procedures.
Emergency care experience is valued.
Ideal candidates should be flexible regarding schedules and able to accommodate block scheduling discussions with management.
RTO restrictions suggest ideally no more than 5 days off.
This is an acute care hospital with a total of 562 staffed beds and operates as a Level I trauma center.
Charting is conducted using a specific electronic health record system.
All required competencies must be met before starting assignments.
Teaching and trauma center experience is preferred for applicants.
