Job description

Overview
A Member Service Associate (MSA) is a leader. They take pride in their job and can resolve inquiries and issues in a friendly manner. They have a strong work ethic and are team players and like to work in a fast-paced environment where no two days are ever the same.
Responsibilities
  • They have a friendly yet professional attitude and carry themselves in a fashion that imbues respect.
  • Are known for showing leadership.
  • Sells Memberships and Programs.
  • Contributes to member retention.
  • They are proficient computer software users and can find all information needed.
  • Trained and able to respond to emergencies and is always updated on safety procedures.
  • They can oversee multiple duties simultaneously, including but not limited to:
    • Maintain a clean, organized and properly stocked workspace
    • Handle cash balance and receipt all money transactions at the desk
    • Open/close Y facility as scheduled
    • Assist members in scheduling reservations and activities.
    • Issues and tracks equipment/keys
    • Document all inquiries and maintain accurate membership records.
    • Preparing and maintaining member coffee service and supplies
    • Other duties as assigned
Child Abuse Policies & Prevention: The YMCA enforces policies to prevent child abuse. Allegations or suspicions are taken seriously and reported to authorities. Procedures include unscheduled visits, open doors for parents, and a code of conduct for staff. We screen carefully to prevent abusers from being hired and provide child abuse prevention training to staff. Employees who fail to support these policies will be subject to discipline, up to termination.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age requirement is 18 years.
  • Highschool Diploma / GED required. College Degree preferred.
  • Proven customer service excellence from a similar industry.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have sense for detail.
  • Experience in office processes and procedures.
  • Comfortable with data entry, computer functions, and phone follow ups.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
