A Day in the Life
We are seeking a highly experienced and business‑focused Senior Principal Data Scientist to join our Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health team. In this role, you will transform clinical and real‑world data into strategic insights that influence clinical, regulatory, and market decisions. You will report directly to the Senior Statistics Manager and operate as an embedded expert within our statistics organization, while also partnering closely with NMPH leadership to drive key transformation initiatives.
This is a hands‑on, impact‑oriented role. You will collaborate with cross‑functional leaders to define analytical opportunities, shape data strategies, develop predictive models, and create dashboards and tools that guide clinical and regulatory effectiveness. Success requires deep expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and AI, combined with strong business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, explore, clean, transform, and model data to uncover insights, support decisions, and drive competitive advantage.
- Apply advanced statistical analysis to support accurate forecasting, prediction, and classification.
- Analyze clinical trial data, registries, and real‑world data sources (claims, EHR, publications) to identify trends, anomalies, and improvement opportunities.
- Translate complex business questions into structured data science problems and deliver models that shape clinical, regulatory, and market strategies.
- Build and maintain analytical workflows, dashboards, and predictive models that support operational excellence.
- Utilize AI and ML techniques to accelerate data discovery and enhance analytical efficiency.
- Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms using state‑of‑the‑art methodologies.
- Integrate repeatable, scalable data science components into enterprise systems and transformation workflows.
- Maintain analytical systems, validate data integrity, and serve as a liaison to business partners.
- Create visualizations that make analytical outputs accessible and actionable for non‑technical audiences.
- Extend internal datasets with external data sources when needed to improve insights.
- Conduct ad‑hoc analysis and clearly present findings to stakeholders.
- Work closely with data architects/engineers and IT partners to align on shared project goals.
- Support cross‑functional teams by identifying data opportunities and building tools that enhance strategy and execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in Data Analytics.
- OR Advanced degree and a minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Analytics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience translating data science insights into business strategies.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Python or R for advanced analytics and modeling.
- Demonstrated experience integrating AI into daily workflows.
- Proven success developing and communicating ML models for predictive and prescriptive analytics.
- Advanced data visualization capabilities.
- Strong understanding of how ML and inferential statistics complement each other in product development.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or pharma industries.
- Familiarity with synthetic data or digital twin technologies.
- Graduate degree in Data Science or another quantitative field (strong plus).

Benefits & Compensation
Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package.
Salary range (USD): $153,600.00 – $230,400.00. The position is eligible for the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
