Certification from recognized bodies like the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) and proficiency with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools are highly valued. What types of documents or content does a medical translator typically work with?
Medical Translators are often responsible for translating a variety of healthcare documents, such as patient records, consent forms, clinical trial documentation, prescriptions, and informational brochures. They may also work on interpreting medical research papers or translating communication between healthcare professionals and patients. The content requires a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality, as errors can have significant consequences for patient care. Medical Translators frequently collaborate with healthcare providers, administrative staff, and sometimes directly with patients to ensure all information is conveyed precisely and sensitively.
What does a medical translator do?
