What is a Medical Spa RN?

A Medical Spa RN, or Registered Nurse, works in a medical spa setting to provide various aesthetic and cosmetic treatments under the supervision of a medical director or physician. Their duties often include administering injectables like Botox and dermal fillers, performing laser treatments, and conducting consultations for skin care and cosmetic procedures. They are responsible for assessing clients, ensuring safety and proper technique, and educating patients about treatment options and aftercare. Medical Spa RNs must hold a valid nursing license and often receive specialized training in aesthetic procedures. This role combines clinical nursing skills with a focus on patient wellness and beauty.

What does a Medical Spa RN do?

As a medical spa RN, your job is to perform non-surgical cosmetic procedures for clients. This may involve injections, fillers, or laser procedures, and you may be asked to assist a doctor for complex treatments. Aside from performing treatments, medical spas have an emphasis on comfort and luxury, so you are also expected to demonstrate outstanding customer service skills at all times. Medical spa RNs frequently evaluate client suitability for treatments, suggest alternatives when the original request is a poor choice, educate clients on pre- and post-treatment care plans, and travel between facilities as necessary. Most medical spa treatments occur on the same day the client requests them.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Medical Spa RN?

To thrive as a Medical Spa RN, you need a current RN license, a solid understanding of aesthetic procedures, and experience in patient care. Familiarity with devices such as lasers, injectables (like Botox and fillers), and electronic medical record systems is typically required, along with relevant certifications in medical aesthetics. Exceptional interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to educate and reassure clients set top performers apart. These skills are vital for delivering safe, effective treatments, building client trust, and ensuring a high standard of care in a growing field.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a Medical Spa RN, and how do they collaborate with other team members?

A Medical Spa RN typically spends their day performing non-surgical aesthetic procedures such as injectables, laser treatments, and patient consultations regarding skincare. They collaborate closely with medical directors, aestheticians, and administrative staff to ensure safe, effective, and personalized care for clients. RNs are responsible for assessing patient suitability for treatments, providing pre- and post-care instructions, and maintaining accurate medical records. Teamwork and strong communication skills are essential for coordinating appointments, sharing patient information, and ensuring a seamless client experience.

Job description

MEDICAL SPA MANAGER / LEAD AESTHETIC RN

Stafford Medical & Med Spa | Dr. Nguyen Wellness
Location: Stafford, Texas
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $30–$38/hour + eligible incentives, commission, and performance bonus, depending on experience, licensure, qualifications, leadership experience, and services the candidate is qualified and authorized to perform.

About the Position

Stafford Medical & Med Spa is seeking an experienced, motivated, and highly professional Medical Spa Manager / Lead Aesthetic RN to help lead, develop, and grow our medical aesthetics and wellness services.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership position, not a traditional day-spa management role.

Our physician-directed practice provides medical wellness and aesthetic services that may include medical weight management, laser and energy-based treatments, Botox® and other aesthetic treatments, IV vitamin infusion therapy, PRP, hair restoration, skin rejuvenation, and additional advanced aesthetic and wellness services as the practice continues to grow.

The ideal candidate combines strong medical-aesthetics experience with clinical professionalism, leadership ability, exceptional patient communication, operational management, and business-development experience.

Medical Spa Operations & Leadership

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage day-to-day Medical Spa operations.
  • Coordinate patient flow, appointments, staffing, treatment rooms, and provider schedules.
  • Supervise and support Medical Spa staff.
  • Assist with staff training, onboarding, competency validation, and continuing development.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of medications, supplies, retail products, and treatment materials.
  • Monitor equipment readiness, maintenance requirements, and treatment-room standards.
  • Maintain high standards of patient safety, privacy, professionalism, infection control, and customer service.
  • Help maintain complete documentation, informed-consent forms, treatment records, clinical protocols, and operational policies.
  • Work closely with the Medical Director/physician and ownership/administrative team.
  • Assist with implementation of new Medical Spa services, protocols, equipment, and technologies.
  • Monitor operational and financial performance of the Medical Spa.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, patient satisfaction, retention, and responsible practice growth.

Medical Aesthetic & Wellness Services

Depending upon the candidate's professional license, education, training, documented competency, applicable physician orders and delegation/supervision, facility protocols, and Texas law, clinical responsibilities may include:

  • Medical weight-management program support.
  • Laser and energy-based aesthetic treatments when appropriately trained, credentialed, and authorized.
  • Botox® and other injectable aesthetic treatments when within the individual's scope of practice and performed pursuant to appropriate orders, physician delegation/supervision, documented training, competency, and applicable Texas requirements.
  • Elective IV hydration and vitamin infusion services when appropriately ordered and delegated.
  • PRP treatments.
  • Hair-restoration treatments.
  • Skin-rejuvenation and medical-aesthetic treatments.
  • Pre-treatment and post-treatment patient assessment and care.
  • Patient education and treatment follow-up.
  • Additional medical-aesthetic and wellness procedures introduced by the practice for which the individual is appropriately licensed, trained, competent, and authorized.

All clinical services must be performed within the individual's professional scope of practice and in accordance with applicable Texas law, Stafford Medical & Med Spa clinical protocols, physician orders, delegation requirements, and required supervision. Employment in this position does not authorize an employee to perform any procedure outside the employee's individual legal scope of practice or documented competency.

Patient Consultation & Treatment Coordination

  • Conduct patient intake, aesthetic/wellness assessments, education, and consultations within applicable professional scope.
  • Review patient concerns, goals, treatment history, and relevant information.
  • Educate patients regarding available services and treatment options without independently diagnosing or prescribing when such activities are outside the individual's professional scope.
  • Explain treatment expectations, preparation, aftercare, and follow-up requirements.
  • Coordinate treatment planning with Dr. Nguyen and other appropriate licensed clinical providers.
  • Ensure required medical evaluation, orders, consents, and documentation are completed before treatment.
  • Follow up with patients following procedures.
  • Encourage clinically appropriate continuity of care and rebooking.
  • Develop strong, professional, long-term patient relationships.
  • Maintain an ethical, educational, patient-centered, and non-pressure approach to treatment recommendations.

Business Development

The Medical Spa Manager will play an important role in responsibly growing Stafford Medical & Med Spa.

Responsibilities include:

  • Help establish monthly operational, revenue, and growth goals.
  • Monitor consultations, bookings, conversion rates, rebooking, patient retention, and overall performance.
  • Assist with development of appropriate treatment packages and membership programs.
  • Help plan promotions, events, educational programs, and Medical Spa campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team on social media, educational content, and patient awareness.
  • Identify opportunities for appropriate new services and technologies.
  • Help develop professional referral relationships.
  • Train staff on professional patient communication and service presentation.
  • Help create an exceptional patient experience from initial inquiry through treatment and follow-up.
  • Promote responsible business growth without compromising clinical judgment, patient safety, or ethical treatment recommendations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) or APRN license in good standing for clinical-provider responsibilities.
  • Previous Medical Spa, medical aesthetics, wellness, dermatology, plastic surgery, or related clinical experience.
  • Strong understanding of medical aesthetic treatments and patient safety.
  • Excellent patient consultation, education, and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional, polished, dependable, and patient-focused demeanor.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the Medical Director, physicians, advanced practice providers, clinical staff, and administrative leadership.
  • Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with management and business-development responsibilities.
  • Willingness to complete and maintain all training, competency documentation, certifications, and continuing education required for assigned clinical services.

Strongly Preferred

  • 3+ years of Medical Spa or medical-aesthetics experience.
  • Previous Medical Spa management, lead, or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with laser and energy-based treatments.
  • Experience with aesthetic injectables.
  • Experience with IV therapy.
  • Experience with PRP.
  • Experience with medical weight-management programs.
  • Experience launching or growing Medical Spa services.
  • Strong patient-consultation, retention, and ethical sales skills.
  • Experience training clinical and aesthetic staff.
  • Experience implementing clinical protocols, workflows, and quality standards.

Compensation

$30–$38 per hour, depending on professional license, experience, qualifications, leadership background, and the clinical services the candidate is qualified and authorized to perform.

Additional compensation opportunities may include:

  • Eligible service-based incentives or commission.
  • Product/retail commission.
  • Monthly performance bonus.
  • Medical Spa revenue-growth bonus.
  • Patient-retention and rebooking incentives.
  • Team and operational performance incentives.

All incentive programs are subject to practice policies, applicable law, professional ethical requirements, and patient-care standards.

Final compensation structure will be discussed based on the candidate's qualifications, clinical scope, experience, and responsibilities.
