Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars, IA has a full-time position (40hours per week) in our Laboratory Department for a Medical Lab Scientist or Medical Technician.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides phlebotomy on adults, children, and infants by venipuncture or capillary methods and direct arterial punctures.
  • Performs routine and special laboratory testing, recording, and test results reporting within established turnaround time.
  • Interpret analytical findings/results to assess compliance with hospital and industry standards.
  • Performs specimen collection, handling, processing, and testing following established procedures.
  • Performs instrument maintenance, calibrations, and function checks.
  • Assists in evaluating new tests and/or new procedures; perform quality control, proficiency testing and remedial action for unacceptable results.
  • Overnight shifts. No weekends; rotating holidays.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or an Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
  • 1 year of experience required. Previous experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from the ASCP or AMT required within 12 months of hire.
  • BLS a plus; certification is required as an employee.
  • Mandatory Reporter training certificate a plus; certification is required as an employee.
