A Day in the Life

Across our global Neuroscience organization, we advance care for some of medicine's most complex neurological and spinal conditions. Join Medtronic's Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health team as a Senior Medical Science Writer and play a critical role in advancing the scientific evidence that supports our therapies. As a key member of the Pelvic Health Evidence Team, you will lead medical and scientific communication initiatives, including literature reviews, evidence gap analyses, publication planning, manuscript development, and scientific dissemination activities. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners across Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Marketing, Health Economics & Reimbursement, and Regulatory teams to shape evidence strategies and communicate meaningful clinical insights to both internal and external stakeholders.

This highly visible role offers the opportunity to influence evidence generation, support scientific publications and presentations, engage with leading healthcare professionals, and contribute to the advancement of patient-centered care.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the development, authorship, and submission of scientific manuscripts, abstracts, posters, podium presentations, and other evidence-based medical communications derived from clinical studies, scientific research, and real-world evidence.

  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews, synthesize scientific findings, develop medical evidence reports, and lead cross-functional evidence gap assessments to inform future research and evidence generation strategies.

  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, and internal stakeholders to support publication planning, scientific communications, and dissemination of clinical evidence.

  • Facilitate publication committees and partner with physician investigators to develop and execute publication plans that address key evidence needs and support high-impact scientific publications.

  • Serve as a clinical and scientific evidence expert, providing support for Clinical Evaluation Reports (CERs), physician-sponsored studies, marketing material reviews, and new product evidence development.

  • Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Marketing, Research & Development, Health Economics & Reimbursement, Clinical Research, and Regulatory Affairs to align evidence strategies and support business objectives.

  • Support investigator meetings, advisory boards, research collaborations, and external partnerships, while effectively engaging senior internal and external stakeholders.

  • Evaluate external research proposals for scientific rigor and oversee evidence-related project deliverables, ensuring timely execution and compliance with established milestones.

  • Maintain databases of peer-reviewed literature, publications, and scientific evidence, and prepare responses to scientific, regulatory, audit, and submission-related inquiries.

  • Monitor published literature for reportable complaints or adverse events and ensure appropriate reporting in accordance with Global Clinical Health (GCH) requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, Medtronic quality standards, policies, and procedures while delivering high-quality scientific work.

Minimum requirements:

To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements must be evident on your resume.

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of 4 years of clinical research experience in studies, publications, and/or program management.

  • OR an advanced degree (PhD preferred) with minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical research, studies, publications, or program management.

Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in technical writing including clinical study plans, clinical reports, scientific manuscripts, clinical evidence reports.

  • Proven record in leading study publications including authorship.

  • Demonstrated ability in working within a matrix of cross functional stakeholders including project management skills and experience with related tools

  • Familiarity with ICMJE guidelines and Good Publication Practices Knowledge in the areas of neurology and/or psychiatry

  • Understanding of clinical research study design, Good Clinical Practices, and global clinical regulations (e.g., FDA, ICH guidelines) for medical devices, biologics, and/or pharmaceuticals.

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and adapt to shifting priorities and competing demands, and maintain composure in difficult circumstances

  • Ability to provide performance feedback and to appropriately respond to feedback from customers and coworkers

  • Willingness to accept challenging assignments and engage in professional developmental activities

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
