Job description

SUMMARY:

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a key scientific field-based expert responsible for engaging with healthcare professionals (HCPs), researchers, and key opinion leaders (KOLs) to advance the scientific dialogue around Aytu BioPharma’s therapeutic assets. The MSL provides clinical and scientific insight to inform strategy, support medical education, and ensure scientific integrity across field initiatives. This role is critical in bridging the company’s internal scientific functions with the broader medical community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with KOLs, investigators, and academic centers in assigned territories, initially throughout the United States.
  • Training support for the commercial team; creating training materials, presenting didactic education, and providing office hours availability.
  • Serve as the scientific resource for HCPs, providing fair-balanced, non-promotional information on product science, disease state education, and relevant clinical data.
  • Serve as a liaison between Scientific Affairs and the commercial organization to facilitate sales specialist training and understanding of Aytu BioPharma’s therapeutic assets.
  • Support external clinical development activities through site identification, clinical trial education, and medical insight gathering.
  • Attend and represent the company at medical congresses and scientific meetings to gather insights, support strategy alignment, and monitor competitive intelligence.
  • Facilitate and participate in scientific advisory boards, speaker training, and peer-to-peer medical education sessions.
  • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific information in accordance with compliance and legal guidelines.
  • Provide field feedback and insights to internal cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Commercial, Regulatory) to inform medical strategy and product lifecycle planning.
  • Serve as a conduit for clinical trial site support and awareness, partnering closely with Clinical Operations.
  • Maintain expertise in assigned therapeutic areas through continuous professional development and internal training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Deep understanding of the scientific method, clinical research processes, and regulatory/compliance frameworks governing field medical activities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to translate complex scientific content to diverse audiences, both peer-to-peer and internally.
  • Strong analytical thinking and strategic insight; ability to synthesize field intelligence into actionable recommendations.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity, working autonomously, and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • High emotional intelligence and professional maturity in engaging thought leaders and healthcare stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM or medical information platforms.
EDUCATION:
  • Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent in a life science discipline).
EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum requirement of 1–3 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) or equivalent role in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device industry; 5–8 years of experience preferred.
  • Therapeutic area experience in CNS (specifically psychiatry) is preferred.
  • Experience in launching new products or supporting field-based education initiatives is highly desirable.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Office setting with standard lighting, heating, and air conditioning.
  • Sedentary activity is consistent with administrative responsibilities.
  • Ability to travel 60–80%, including overnight stays and conference attendance.
THE COMPANY:

Aytu BioPharma aspires to be the leading pediatric-focused pharmaceutical company in the world.
