Sample Department Tech
Job Summary:
The Sample Tech – Production / Fulfillment / Saw Tech will accurately cut tile for swatch cards and sample hand boards, produce swatch cards and sample hand boards, and / or prepare all sample packs and orders to ship based on a production schedule.
Duties/Responsibilities:
PRODUCTION
  • Assemble and produce sample hand boards and swatch cards based on Marketing and customer designs following supervisor’s direction and Sample Department schedule. Cut, glue, and label all samples in accordance with provided direction.
  • Daily use of wet saw, table saw, and sharp instruments required.
  • Safe Workplace: Maintain all equipment and materials in a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following IWT prescribed work methods.
  • Safety, Sanitation, Security: Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and SDS standards.
  • Assist in assembly and production of sample hand boards and swatch cards based on Marketing and customer designs following supervisor’s direction and Sample Department schedule. Cut, glue, and label all samples in accordance with provided directions.
  • Efficient Workplace: Efficiently stack and store all products in the appropriate areas. Maintain production inventory and stock inventory in a clean and accurate manner.
  • Inventory: Put away and select orders in an accurate and efficient manner. Cycle count stock locations as directed and in accordance with IWT cycle count schedule.
  • Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and take prompt corrective action or suggest courses of action which may be taken to achieve favorable resolutions.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
  • Represent the cores values and policies of the company.
ORDER PULLER/FULFILLMENT
  • Shipping: Prepare and package orders for shipment in accordance with order tickets and in a manner that ensures safe and undamaged delivery.
  • Quality: Ensure outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage. Report quality variances. Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets or exceeds customer service standards.
  • Forklift Operations: Daily inspect and document forklift inspections. Use forklift to move, locate, stack, and count products. Accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the vehicle.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in product strapping machines desired.
  • Experience with safely operating a table saw, wet saw, and other sharp instruments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft programs with the capacity to expand knowledge to accounting/inventory/warehouse software and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with management, peers, and subordinates.
  • Ability to communicate and conduct themselves professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts at all times.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stand and sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds/ideally be able lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift experience of 1-2 years preferred.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years experience in related field of expertise.
