Job description

KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated Mechanical Engineer, Junior, to join our team. This position is contingent upon contract award. This position is onsite in Newport, Rhode Island.

Established in July 2013, KAIROS, Inc. is a growing Woman Owned Small Business (WOSB) specializing in Life Cycle Program Management, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Logistics and Sustainment, Enterprise Platforms and AI, and Additive Manufacturing services focused on optimizing customers’ program performance and mission through proven methodologies and ethical practices. This position will research, develop, design, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices. This work supports power-producing machines such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines. This position will also develop power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing.

Primary Duties
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications, or environmental regulations.
  • Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
  • Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions.
  • Utilize computers to assist in efficiently performing computations, and by permitting the modeling and simulation of new designs as well as facilitating changes to existing designs.
  • Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) for design data processing and for turning the design into a product.
Skills and Qualifications

  • Microsoft office suite proficiency, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to work within a challenging, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to provide clear status and/or communicate issues
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technology and/or business processes and practices.
  • Experience with PLM, MBSE, AutoCAD and 3D Modeling, a plus
  • Experience with Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, MATLAB, Electronics and Instrumentation, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics Based Design, Finite Element Analysis, etc. a plus.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's level degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Clearance

This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this position is $68,000 to $85,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
