REGISTERED NURSE - .6 FTE Parttime - LHS/TPC
Overview: This position is responsible for assisting in coordinating the health services to students and employees within the school and ensures that all health services comply with Federal and State laws and standards. The Registered Nurse provides assistance and care of sick and injured students, maintains health and medical documentation for the school, performs medical procedures as necessary, and is part of the educational team for health education and promotion.
Reports to: Assistant Principal for Student Services
Employee Status: Educational Support Professional

Calendar: 184 Teacher Attendance Days, 7:30am - 4:00pm
Qualifications: Registered Nurse, Licensed in Illinois
Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
Non-PEL RN Designation preferred, or willingness to obtain one
Professional/Personal Characteristics:
  • Previous experience in an educational setting preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently under varying deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Proficient with Google G-Suite, office and phone equipment
  • Demonstrates strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills while maintaining a calm demeanor during emergency situations

Job Responsibilities:
  • Learn and implement therapies, procedures, and accommodations developed by related service providers and special services teams
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of health data and/or records and teaching materials
  • Assists in maintaining a user-friendly, safe, and clean health office environment
  • Collaborate with administration and program supervisors to ensure medical supplies, medications, adaptive equipment, and health office materials are properly ordered, maintained, stocked, and functioning appropriately
  • Emergency care plans, and individualized supports to ensure students' medical and health needs are safely addressed in educational, community, and vocational settings
  • Complete medical reviews and health history reports as part of the IEP process, with Certified School Nurse supervision if required
  • Support summer school and Extended School Year (ESY) programming as assigned
  • Support all tasks as assigned by supervisor
