WORK COMP EDITOR
It is our goal to provide the finest Orthopaedic care possible. This philosophy requires that all office staff and providers be sensitive and responsive to patients' needs and preferences. To ensure that we hire and retain the quality of staff needed for implementing our philosophy of service, we have adopted the following job description for this position.
The position requires that the employee be available forty hours per week, and that also the employee be flexible in his/her schedule to provide efficient service for the group. The employee however, will be expected to work no more than five days per week.
Many of the responsibilities require that you have a working knowledge of computers and the ability to learn the proper use of the programs utilized in this office, or those that which may be necessary to meet the needs of the practice.
The hours, pay scale, and benefits will be defined as agreed upon.
BASIC FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Workers' Comp Manager, the Workers' Comp Editor shall be responsible to complete their assigned reports and meet with physicians and management as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Worker's Compensation Orthopedic Editor will be responsible for the review and editing of Med-Legal reports. Medical writing and editing experience required.
General Activities (There may be other duties required of this position not listed below):
  1. Review patient history information to make sure it is incorporated correctly into the provider's report. There may be occasions when the Workers' Comp Editor will be required to contact a patient to obtain or clarify information.
  2. Must have experience with Med-Legal Worker's Compensation reporting
  3. Must have experience with reviewing AME/QME reports
  4. Must have thorough understanding of AMC Guides 5th edition and Labor codes 4663 & 4664
  5. Excellent communication, writing and grammar skills
  6. Must be well versed with worker's compensation and medical terminology
  7. Strong organizational skills, detailed-oriented, and ability to handle multiple tasks
  8. Must exhibit a high degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative and high standard of ethics.
  9. Must possess high attention to detail
  10. Any other duties as may be assigned by the Manager.

Requirements
Skill Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalence
  • 2 to 3 years' work experience in Workers Compensation cases
  • Experience in Orthopedics and Pain Management preferred
  • Dependable and organized
  • Receptive to constructive criticism and feedback
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and follow up on assignments
  • Self-starter, proactive and works well with little supervision
  • Excellent analytical skills, likes to be accurate and attention to detail
  • Intermediate or higher skill level in WordPerfect and Word office

Typical Physical Demands:
  1. Requires sitting and walking, with daily occasional stooping, reaching, and bending.
  2. Occasional lifting up to thirty pounds.
