Learn About a Day in the life of a Med-Surg RN:

Responsibilities:
  • The Charge Nurse—Medical/Surgical Unit has the leadership skills, authority, responsibility, and shift accountability for the delivery of nursing care through the use of the nursing process.
  • They are an extension of the leadership team (director, manager, nursing supervisor, clinical preceptor, and/or house supervisor) and must conduct themselves as such.
Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required,
  • Licensed as an RN in the State of New Jersey
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
  • At least one year of experience as a Staff RN on a Medical/Surgical unit is required

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
