Job Summaryย 

The Packaging Technician is responsible for the safe, compliant, and damage-free packaging of high-value mechanical components and subassemblies used in medical imaging devices. This position requires strong attention to detail, ability to follow work instructions and schematics, and a commitment to producing high-quality products in compliance with regulatory standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Package MRI, PET-CT, and X-ray systems using engineered crates and securing sensitive components.
  • Follow work instructions, drawings, and packing specs.
  • Use hand tools, forklifts, pallet jacks, or hoists to safely move large and heavy assemblies.
  • Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Accurately complete packing checklists and other required documentation, and label crates per customer, export, and regulatory ย ย ย requirements.
  • Support FDA / ISO / internal quality standards.
  • Inspect crates for completeness and integrity, and identify and report damage, defects, or missing parts.
  • Adhere to EHS protocols and PPE requirements.
  • Follow cleanroom or controlled environment procedures (7S).
  • Coordinate with assembly, quality, and logistics teams and support loading onto trucks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Technical certification or associate degree in a mechanical or manufacturing field is a plus.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial packing or crating, preferably in medical devices, aerospace, or high-tech manufacturing.
  • Experience with heavy or fragile equipment preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and assembly instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity using hand and power tools.
  • Strong sense of ownership ("this crate is my responsibility").
  • Basic computer skills for entering data into ERP or MES systems.
  • Team-oriented mindset and punctuality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Standing, bending, kneeling for extended periods
  • Fine motor skills for handling small components.
