Job description

Certified Veterinary Technician – Surgery

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery Team. This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys a structured schedule, surgical support, and working in a collaborative, high-quality care environment.

Schedule & Position Details:

  • Full-time, daytime schedule

  • Set days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

  • No weekend shifts

  • On-call opportunties

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience

  • Wisconsin Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) required

  • Surgical or anesthesia experience preferred

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work both independently and within a team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care to stable surgical patients in accordance with hospital standards

  • Perform physical exams, including accurate assessment of TPR, mucous membranes, and capillary refill time

  • Monitor patient status and promptly report abnormalities to the veterinarian

  • Place peripheral IV catheters and manage fluid therapy

  • Set up and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps

  • Administer subcutaneous fluids and monitor for signs of fluid overload

  • Assist with anesthesia, including induction, monitoring, and recovery

  • Maintain sterile technique and assist with surgical preparation

  • Perform venipuncture and sample collection

  • Support post-operative patient care and client communication
