Our Critical Care team takes care of some of the sickest patients in the hospital and is able to provide advanced care including mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal therapies (therapeutic plasma exchange and hemoperfusion).
We are looking for:Veterinary Technician for Critical Care
Proposed work schedule: Thursday - Saturday from 10a-10p
What you'll do:
  • Practice at the top of your license
  • Treat critically ill and injured patients
  • Place long-lines (PICC lines, Drum lines, and Central Lines)
  • Perform in-house diagnostics (blood work, radiographs, etc)
  • Administer blood transfusions
  • Administer vasopressors and pain medications
  • Set up the mechanical ventilator and hi-flow nasal oxygen
  • Assist with extracorporeal procedures (TPE, hemoperfusion)
  • Monitor critically ill patients
  • Interact with clients to help them understand their pet's care
  • Collaborate with DVMs to provide exceptional care to our hospitalized patients
  • Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
  • Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
  • Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
  • Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
  • Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
  • Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
  • Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:
  • A registered veterinary technician with 2+ years of experience in emergency and/or critical care
medicine
  • A team player with a growth mindset
  • Self-motivated and a critical thinker
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment
  • Proficient in "medical math:" comfortable calculating drug doses and making CRIs
  • Comfortable with high acuity cases and humane euthanasia
