VA Spine Neurosurgeon, Assistant or Associate Professor (University Medical Line)

The Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine seeks a full-time general neurosurgeon who has a clinical focus on spine surgery at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the University Medical Line, based primarily at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Palo Alto. We are particularly interested in candidates who are outstanding surgeon-scientists with a strong commitment to advancing the academic mission through clinical excellence, teaching, and translational research involving the spine and spinal cord injury.
The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
We seek an individual who will establish and lead a laboratory focused on spine translational research and spinal cord injury. Candidates must have completed neurosurgery training, be board-certified or eligible by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, and be eligible for a California medical license. The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate excellence or strong potential in clinical care, teaching, and scholarly activity, with a trajectory toward regional or national recognition.

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank.
