About the Facility – Parker Indian Health Center (PIHC) The Parker Indian Health Center, also known as The Colorado River Service Unit (CRSU) services nearly 13,000 members in the tribal communities of Parker, AZ; Peach Springs, AZ; Supai, AZ; Havasu Lake, CA; and Moapa, NV. CRSU is headquartered at Parker Indian Health Center in Parker, AZ. Their facilities are accredited through The Joint Commission. Examples of services provided at each facility are listed below. Patients requiring inpatient surgical procedures and complex medical care are referred to Phoenix Indian Medical Center or contract-care hospitals. This 17-bed Critical Access Hospital provides the American Indian/Alaskan Native community with general medical services. Specialties outpatient services are provided on-site by HIS or off-site referrals. The PIHC serves approximately 7,850 patients. Services provided include: audiology, behavioral health services, dental, emergency department, general surgery, immunizations, inpatient, laboratory, medical imaging, nutrition services, OB/GYN, optometry, pediatrics, pharmacy, physical therapy, podiatry, primary care, public health education, public health nursing, rheumatology and wound care. MLT RESPONSIBILITIES

• Shall cover the range of routine and STAT testing on blood, urine, and other body fluids.
• Collecting, transporting, processing, and evaluating specimens for all lab sections.
• Shall perform clinical chemistry and toxicology on automated and semi-automated instruments.
• Storing and preparing reagents, standards, and calibrators. Maintaining, calibrating, cleaning, and effecting repairs of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Documenting those functions and informing supervisory staff of any problems encountered.
• Preparing, testing, recording, and interpreting quality control materials. Taking corrective action for out-of-control results, and immediately notifying supervisory staff of any problems encountered.
• Testing, verifying, and reporting patient test results in accordance with established protocols. Recognizing and responding to indications of malfunctions in testing and reporting. Immediately evaluating current test results to available prior test results for acceptability. Reporting critical results in accordance with established protocols.

MLT REQUIREMENTS

• Must have twenty-four (24) months as a Medical Technologist with Generalist experience.
• Must have a B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or one of the Biological Science (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, etc.) from an accredited college or university.
• Must be certified in Medical Technology by the appropriate agency.
• Must have certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) -OR- American Medical Technologist (AMT).
• Must have certification in Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Must also provide current and up-to-date immunization records including COVID vaccinations.
• Language Requirements and Cultural Awareness: Shall read, understand, speak, and write English to effectively communicate with patients and other health care workers, and shall be respectful of the local, American Indian and Alaska Native culture.
• Must possess basic knowledge, skills, and abilities to use a computer.
