Scope of Position The James Outpatient Care Clinical Laboratory provides comprehensive, time sensitive laboratory services to patients with a variety of diagnoses or admission/discharge criteria. The Clinical Laboratory staff performs testing on patient specimens utilizing chemistry, immunochemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, transfusion services, and assists with bone marrow procedures. The James Outpatient Care Clinical Laboratory provides training for residents, new staff and medical technology students. The James Outpatient Care Laboratory is staffed 24 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with hours varying according to workflow on weekends and holidays.
Position Summary
The senior clinical laboratory professional provides advanced technical or operational experience within the Clinical Laboratory. The senior clinical laboratory professional performs specialized automated and manual laboratory procedures, verifies and reports test requests and results, and is directly responsible for the technical quality of tests performed in the laboratory. Administrative duties include instrument technical requirements including validations, creation and execution of section competencies, section QA/QI responsibilities, technical procedure writing/implementation, assisting with scheduling, training and recordkeeping. The senior clinical laboratory professional works under the direction of the division director, lead technologist, and lab manager.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Med Lab Science or Biological Science Degree. American Society of Clinical Pathology Certification in Medical Technologist, Medical Lab Technician or Medical Lab Scientist. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
