Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
Pay range: $24.80/hr. - $34.45/hr. plus 5% MA certification differential if applicable
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting providers with specific patient procedures relevant to each clinic and ensuring the delivery of quality care to patients in accordance with individual needs, physician orders and standards of care, as represented through patient care policies. Must be able and willing to handle all front and back-office tasks within the clinic according to established procedures and protocols, as to provide a seamless experience for the patient.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES -
Performed majority of the time -
โ€ข Schedules patient appointments using EMR and within provider guidelines. Checks in patients to include gathering patient information, entering into computer, handles insurance information and collects co-pays appropriately.
โ€ข Checks out patients to include addressing any additional patient concerns or needs.
โ€ข Obtains prior medical records and studies if appropriate.
โ€ข Documents data (i.e. vital signs, weights) on patient charts to communicate with team members Responds to correspondence as appropriate, by telephone and/or in writing.
โ€ข Maintains organized work area.
โ€ข Sends copies of chart notes to primary care physicians as needed.
โ€ข Assists patients to exam rooms.
โ€ข Contacts patients with lab and x-ray results and documents phone calls.
โ€ข Obtains specimens and performs laboratory work and documents data in patient record.
โ€ข Performs injections, venipuncture, EKG.
โ€ข Keeps exam rooms orderly and clean between patients.
โ€ข Prepares exam room/minor surgery for procedures.
โ€ข Assists the physician with sterile, wound management, and in-office procedure(s).Performs sterile processing of instruments, as needed.
โ€ข Performs opening and closing procedures in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.
โ€ข Communicates information to patients according to protocols.
โ€ข Provides patient education as appropriate to situation.
โ€ข Promotes accident prevention and reports potential hazards to maintain a safe environment.
โ€ข Responds to emergency situations and contacts emergency services as needed.
โ€ข Reviews/updates patient medications.
โ€ข As directed by the provider(s), performs or assists with procedures specific to the clinic.
โ€ข Initiates Delegated Protocols as appropriate.
โ€ข Performs limited x-ray (certification required).
โ€ข Trains and mentors Clinical Assistants

JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
Required
โ€ข High school graduate or GED.
โ€ข Completion of a MA/EMT program or 1 year of experience required.

โ€ข One (1) year experience working in an ambulatory clinic performing or assisting with provider ordered procedures unique to each clinic.
