Job description

The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor, appointment stream, in the division of medical genetics. The OB/GYN department is home to maternal fetal medicine, urogynecology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility, medical genetics, gynecologic oncology, minimally invasive surgery, infectious diseases, and family planning.
The candidate will allocate 80% of their effort to preparing and reviewing molecular genetics and genomics clinical case reports, 10% to research, and 10% to teaching medical students in the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Responsibilities will also include client consultation, assay development, and mentoring in the Department's Laboratory and Genomics Fellowship program, which is committed to training experts and leaders in the laboratory-based disciplines of medical genetics and genomics.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. or MD/DO in Clinical Laboratory Science, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field required.
  • ABMGG Board certified or eligible in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, Clinical Molecular Genetics, or Cytogenetics required.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in laboratory genetics and genomics.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability and minimum of two years of experience in guiding and mentoring students.
  • Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience and qualifications.
