Job Summary:
  • Senior Product Development Engineer possessing strong technical judgment and a deep understanding of customer centric design to support new product development from concept to production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The candidate may be asked to perform other function-related activities in addition to the below mentioned as responsibilities as reasonably required by business needs.
This position is responsible for performing the following tasks as assigned while receiving strategic supervision with assignments:
  • Technically leads small to medium sized projects including one or more subsystem ownership while managing short & long term deliverables to meet project milestones.
  • May assign tasks to and directs engineers, technicians, and administrative staff. Active role in mentoring and developing more junior engineers.
  • Leading technical project meetings and making presentations to support technical decisions.
  • Routinely interacts with project teams, suppliers, customers, contractors, and others.
  • Provides inputs for building scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments and projects.
  • Researches new techniques in related fields to help support completion of assignments.
  • Formulates and solves problems that require significant depth of technical knowledge and/or skillset.
  • Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area to solve complex problems.
  • Prepares complete project documents, including engineering reports and verification and validation documentation. Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Leads build and manufacturing transfer activities.
  • Applies broad knowledge of risk management tools to identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
  • Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs

Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with research and development experience in the medical device industry.

Experience:
  • 5 years of work experience in the health and/or business communities with Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years of work experience in the health and/or business communities with Master's Degree

Skills:
  • Action and detail oriented with an aptitude for technical learning
  • Fast and accurate communication to team members and management
  • Strong functional and technical skills, problem solving skills and a drive for results
  • Apply knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for projects with complex features.
  • Strong technical writing ability, ability to author protocols, reports, requirement and risk documentation with minimal guidance.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, common joining methods, rapid prototyping, etc.)
  • Experimental, computational, and analytical skills such as DFSS tools, statistical methods including design of experiments (DOE) and MiniTab
  • Proficient with tolerance stack ups, DFM, and GD&T
  • Proficient using CAD - SolidWorks preferred
  • Keep informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization and recommend new practices or changes.
  • Strong knowledge in metals and metal tubing design a plus

The annualized base salary range for this role is $97,600 - $152,700 and is bonus eligible. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, geography, education, business needs and market demand.
