Job description

Clearpoint Health Network (CHN) is one of Canada’s largest trusted provider of independent surgical and multi-disciplinary medical centres across Canada. Working in close collaboration with hospitals, insurance providers, regional health organizations and workers’ compensation boards, Clearpoint delivers high-quality care across Canada meeting the needs of patients, while alleviating capacity pressure on public health systems.

Canadian Surgery Solutions, a division of Clearpoint Health Network is recruiting for an Inventory Coordinator in Calgary.

Position Type : Permanent

No of Position : 1

Role is responsible for ensuring:

  • That all stages of the inventory management process are complete and in accordance with policies and processes.
  • Compliance with contract terms and conditions assigned within vendor groups.
  • Maintain and update the inventory management system

Key Responsibilities

  • Input and maintain all vendor contracts.
  • Work closely with the Nurse Manager to ensure accuracy and continuity of supplies and implants.
  • Receive and store supplies and equipment.
  • Track orders and maintain inventory records.
  • Report damaged or deficient items to the Manager and vendor.
  • Audit and replenish supply carts.
  • Monitor shelf life, requisition items in low supply and ensure items are used in a first-in, first-out basis.
  • Audit out-going orders and report discrepancies to the Nurse Manager
  • Arranges for return of damaged or recalled items.
  • Maintains statistics for reporting.
  • Standardizing and maximizing the value of items purchased.
  • Consults with user departments and suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Engage with vendor reps regarding existing and future requirements, cost-saving opportunities and new products and technologies.
  • Shipping and receiving all loaners and repairs.
  • Close out purchase orders and fiscal periods in the inventory management system within required timelines.
  • Review and process all invoices in the accounting system and submit items for approval within required timelines.
  • Review weekly operating room slates with the Nurse Manager and Inventory colleague.
  • Source out and provide new product information for clinic areas.
  • Coordinate and manage inventory counts and audits.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, results driven, business-oriented individual with experience in healthcare, surgical products and service knowledge with the benefit of:

  • Post-secondary education in supply chain management.
  • Healthcare/medical device background, experience with surgical vendors and contract management experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of aseptic techniques.
  • 3-5 yrs procurement and/or supply chain experience required.
  • Solid MS Excel skills.
  • A high level of professionalism (exceptional customer service and organizational skills) results-oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are essential along with the ability to quickly grasp a situation and zero in on issues and provide solutions.
  • The ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent English language skills (reading, written, verbal and comprehension)
  • Experience in a computerized inventory control system.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving, warehousing and material handling.

Physical Requirements

The work environment is very physically demanding and may require different levels of physical exertion, including you may need to lift/push/pull more than 25 pounds. This position may demand standing long hours and bending.
