Job description

About the role
Integer seeks a Principal Cyber-Physical Security Engineer who will serve as a senior technical leader across a growing portfolio of cyber-resilience research programs for autonomous and maritime systems. This role provides cross-program guidance, driving hands-on technical execution on the highest-risk, highest-payoff research problems related to cyber-physical resilience, offensive cyber methods, and attack-emulation frameworks. In addition to driving technical execution, the Principal CPSE contributes to business development and capture by shaping new research directions, supporting proposal development, and engaging with government sponsors to help position Integer for future programs. A successful candidate will excel at working on complex problems with no known solutions, structuring ambiguous technical challenges, delivering measurable capability advances at a regular cadence, and turning funded work into new business opportunities.
What you'll do
  • Shape cyber physical security research, in concert with academic and industry partners, for maritime and autonomous platforms, developing cybersecurity, advanced penetration testing, red teaming, and reverse engineering tools.
  • Architect and prototype cyber resilience capabilities, including real-time decision loop protections, operator-in-the-loop security protocols, AI/ML enabled defenses, and cyber physical attack emulation frameworks.
  • Shape new technical and program opportunities by contributing to capture and business development efforts, authoring technical content for proposals, and maintaining relationships with government and academic stakeholders.
  • Model, simulate, and analyze cyber physical systems, extracting cyber relevant factors from dense data sources and translating them into mission level resilience insights and deployable capability prototypes.
  • Mentor engineers and represent Integer externally, coaching teams on state-of-the-art cyber methods and sound engineering practices, and presenting research at conferences, technical exchanges, and industry events.
  • Drive technical execution across multiple programs, providing principal engineer expertise, identifying high-risk technical challenges, and delivering measurable capability advances.

Required Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong foundation in computer/network architecture, operating systems, and modern software development (Python, Rust, C, C++, or other popular development languages).
  • Demonstrated success in business development and capture activities, including contributing technical proposal content, identifying emerging research directions, and engaging with government and academic partners.
  • Experience conducting cyber physical systems research (IoT, intelligent sensors, autonomous systems, industrial control systems).
  • Proficiency with digital engineering, modeling, and simulation tools for mission level cyber physical resiliency assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently execute ambiguous, long-term R&D tasks and produce concrete, high quality technical results.
  • Experience contributing to multiyear DoD research programs in cyber physical resilience, autonomy security, or maritime cyber operations.
  • Ability to produce clear, accessible documentation for complex research findings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field with 4+ years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment, exploit development, or reverse engineering for CPS with AI/ML-based controllers or automation systems.
  • Familiarity with Zero-Trust Architecture (ZTA) and maritime electric power systems.
