Job description

Title: Instrument Test Technician 2

Location: Milpitas, CA 95035

Shift: M-F 6am - 2:30pm

Pay Rate:  $28 - $32/hr (pay rate will be determined at time of offer)
Job Summary

  • Seeking an experienced Instrument Test Technician 2 to perform production testing, troubleshooting, and optimization of medical device instruments and assemblies.
  • This role involves testing flow cytometers, diagnosing failures, performing adjustments, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure products meet quality and performance standards.


Responsibilities

  • Perform final production testing, inspection, and instrument optimization (laser alignment, pressure, electrical adjustments, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, optical, fluidic, and electronic systems to identify root causes.
  • Repair or replace defective components and document results.
  • Maintain accurate test records, Device History Records (DHR), and production documentation.
  • Read and follow technical documents, work instructions, schematics, and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with engineers, QA, and production teams to improve processes and product quality.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical equivalent preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in high-tech manufacturing or medical device production.
  • Experience troubleshooting optical, fluidic, analog, and digital systems.
  • Hands-on experience with DVMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and test equipment.
  • Strong PC skills including Excel, Word, Windows/Mac OS, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and perform detailed troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000, cGMP 21 CFR Part 820, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to lift up to 35 lbs.


Preferred Experience:

  • Medical device manufacturing, laser-based optical systems, and instrument-level testing.
