Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Medical Coder role based in Delhi, OH. The Medical Coder will review clinical documentation and assign accurate and compliant diagnosis and procedure codes using established guidelines. Daily responsibilities include abstracting relevant information from medical records, validating documentation to support coded data, and entering codes into the billing or health information system. The role involves working closely with providers and billing staff to clarify documentation, reduce coding errors, and support timely claims submission. The Medical Coder will also monitor coding updates, follow payer and regulatory requirements, and participate in internal quality audits as needed.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Medical Coding and Coding Experience, with familiarity in assigning ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Candidates should possess knowledge of Health Information Management practices and medical record documentation standards.
  • Candidates should possess a solid understanding of Medical Terminology and clinical concepts relevant to coding.
  • Candidates should possess or be eligible for credentials such as RHIT or equivalent coding/health information certifications.
  • Candidates should possess attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to interpret provider documentation accurately.
  • Candidates should possess proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and coding/billing software, along with basic computer skills.
  • Candidates should possess strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative teams.
  • Relevant experience in outpatient or inpatient coding, and knowledge of payer guidelines and compliance regulations (e.g., HIPAA) is beneficial.
