Description:

Established in 1972, Dermatology Associates of Concord is a leading Physician-owned dermatology practice dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. The practice consists of 14 providers and has offices in Concord, Cambridge, and Waltham. We specialize in both medical and cosmetic dermatology, offering a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse needs of our community. Our commitment to excellence, innovation, and patient satisfaction has established us as a trusted leader in dermatologic care.


Our billing specialists are responsible for performing routine billing, collections, and accounting functions. Following up on insurance accounts by researching past due claims, contacting insurance companies, and assisting patients coordinate benefits. Reconciling EDI files and posting insurance payments in our practice management software. Verifying claims and medical codes and coding-based appeals with assistance from other team members, submitting insurance claims, processing payments, writing timely appeals, and entering data on patient accounts. Ensures billing records are accurate and current, and tracks and resolves discrepancies.


Essential responsibilities include:

  • Answers billing phone calls and responds to patient inquires.
  • Submits claims to insurance companies and third-party payers as needed for reprocessing.
  • Reviews all EDI rejections and resubmits with corrections.
  • Processes insurance payments via EDI and reconciles accounts.
  • Enters insurance claims, payments, adjustments, and denials on patient statements.
  • Checks electronic billing and payment reports for accuracy.
  • Follows up with third party payers on a regular and systematic basis to ensure timely collections.
  • Writes and follows up on third party payer appeals.
  • Keeps abreast of payer policy changes via monthly newsletters.
  • Performs assigned billing and accounting functions in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assists with other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding systems
  • Knowledge of medical billing, Massachusetts payer policies, EDI, medical coding, and insurance claim filing
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of dermatology billing experience
  • Certified Professional Biller certification
