What You'll Do:
Audit Responsibilities:
  • Assist on audit engagements across multiple industries, including for-profit, nonprofit, and ERISA/benefit plan clients
  • Perform audit testing procedures, such as:

    • Participant data testing and contribution testing (ERISA/401(k))
    • Cash testing, payroll testing, investment testing, and analytical procedures
    • Substantive testing, rollforwards, and compliance testing

  • Help prepare and update audit documentation and workpapers, often referencing prior-year files
  • Gain exposure to on-site audit work, including interacting with client personnel and observing audit procedures in real time
  • Use audit software and tools such as CaseWare, XCM, ShareFile, client portals, and Excel
  • Learn how audit teams plan, execute, and review engagements from start to finish

Tax Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and assist with individual and business tax returns, including:

    • Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041, and gift tax returns

  • Work on GSC (grouped) returns, gaining repetition and confidence across similar but non-identical clients
  • Input and reconcile K-1s, trial balances, fixed assets, and adjusting journal entries
  • Assist with book-to-tax reconciliations, diagnostics, and clearing review points
  • Support first-year and new-client returns, learning how information flows when no prior-year data exists
  • Use tax software such as CCH Axcess, SurePrep, Fixed Assets, and related tools
  • Conduct basic tax research and assist with internal or external tax blog content on current tax topics

What You'll Bring:
  • Completion of at least one semester of an intermediate-level accounting class
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer skills
  • Interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and sitting for the CPA exam

Pay:
  • The anticipated hiring range for this position is $30.00-$32.50 and is dependent on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or accounting systems
  • Have completed at least one semester of intermediate accounting
  • Detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and collaborative mindset

Training & Support:
  • Participate in formal training weeks before each rotation (Audit and Tax)

  • Receive real-time feedback, review notes, and direct verbal feedback throughout the internship
  • Learn how to navigate firm systems, workflows, and professional expectations

Internship Overview:
  • Schedule: Monday - Thursdays, with Fridays off
  • Format: In-person, hybrid, and virtual options available. In-person experience is strongly encouraged
  • Returning Interns: May specialize in either Tax or Audit based on prior experience
  • Exposure to real client work, not just shadowing
  • Opportunity to rotate between Audit and Tax
  • Hands-on experience using the same tools and processes as full-time staff
  • Participate in firm events, networking opportunities, and intern group activities
