About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Coding & Billing Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payment for our patient services. You will play a critical role in our mission to provide breakthrough treatments for mental health conditions like trauma, stress, anxiety, and depression. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute your expertise to a growing organization dedicated to patient-centered care. This is a hybrid position working out of our Westmont, IL clinic.
Key Responsibilities
  • Review patient encounter documentation to ensure accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding for claims submission.
  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies and manage any denials or claim issues through resolution.
  • Collaborate with providers and medical staff to obtain necessary billing information.
  • Generate patient statements, collect payments, and provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries via phone, email, and chat.
  • Manage delinquent accounts, including sending accounts to collections when necessary.
  • Process payer and patient refunds.
  • Provide billing support and guidance to medical and support staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and ensure compliance with all relevant billing regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain current medical billing certification and proficiency (CPC preferred).

Minimum Qualifications
  • CPC or similar certification (well-qualified CPC-A also considered).
  • Minimum of two years of experience in outpatient billing, coding and denials, including claim creation and submissions, Evaluation, & Management (E&M).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with behavioral health billing preferred.
  • Experience with Dr. Chrono
  • Experience with AthenaHealth EMR preferred
  • Must be able to commute to our Chicagoland office 3 days a week
